EARLY JENSENS & JENSEN-BODIED CARS

1936 Jensen-bodied Jensen Ford V8

In 1940, during WW2, the factory was bombed, and litterarily all records of Jensensbuilt cars were destroyed. But still there are some great memories left.

The 1936 Jensen Ford

1936-
This 1936 Jensen Ford is believed to be the sole survivor of a small batch of wooden cars bodied by Jensen using the Ford V8 chassis, Unlike most coachbuilders, which built just the woodwork, Jensen Motors built the entire body, including bonnet, wings and grille.
The car is being restored by Bill Smith.

The Motor magazine, London, 9 June 1936 contained a small item, with photograph of a unique Chevrolet: a special drop-head coupe by Jensen Motors Limited of West Bromwich, Birmingham, England who at the time were just starting building Ford V-8 powered cars with their own bodywork. This was a Master Six chassis, probably Model 1016, to the special order of Jensen Motors Limited. Certain alterations were made to the chassis. The overall height was reduced by 4 in., and the steering column was raked and extended. A spring-spoked steer ing wheel was amongst the special equipment fitted. When the folding top was flat, it fitted flush with the top line of the body and mated nicely with the long, low, bonnet line.
